JOB SUMMARY:
The Debt Recovery officer will be responsible for enforcing the complete repayment of all non-performing loans and designing strategies to prevent/reduce delinquency.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enforce complete repayment from all Eleglance clients in arrears using acceptable recovery methods.
- Give full support to the credit department as regards to debt recovery.
- Alert Eleglance management on high-risk clients and propose the way forward on recovery of the loan.
- Daily tracking of delinquent clients in collection categories defined by the recovery supervisor and credit manual.
- Lift cases needing legal action to the Credit Supervisor/Head of Credit
- Follow up cases at the court with the guidance of the Recovery Supervisor.
- Make a follow-up on settlement of claims of deceased clients
- Spearhead the recovery of written-off loans with the help of Branch Managers.
- Review arrears cases to identify root causes and recommend proper loan assessment to the Credit department
- Prepare monthly reports of collections and other Non-Performing Loans.
- Recommend other collection strategies in line with Eleglance finance recovery procedures.
- Work with other recovery officers to ensure that collections take place safely.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce or any business-related course from a reputable university.
- Qualifications in Credit Management/Debt Collection
- Additional Knowledge in banking or credit is an added advantage.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
- At least 2 years experience in the credit / banking operations, with exposure to credit or lending and debt collection functions.
- Must be able and willing to ride a motorcycle and should possess a valid riding permit or be willing to learn within the first month when appointed.
- Should be fluent in the commonly used local languages and ready to work in any of our branches.
- Should not be more than 35 years of age.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data entry and analysis is essential and mandatory.
